The transactions that are created by Novi for membership, event, and Ecommerce activities in Novi include service dates "under the hood". If they are turned on in your association's QuickBooks Online account, then you will be able to access the information. This may help your bookkeeper properly recognize revenue in QuickBooks' native reports.

Transaction Types with Service Dates

Service dates are added to these transaction types:

  • Invoice

  • Sales Receipt

  • Credit Memo

  • Refund Receipt

How Service Dates are Determined

The service date on a transaction depends on the type of activity that happens in Novi to trigger the creation of the transaction. Service dates will be applied as follows:

  • Membership Dues: First day of the membership term

  • Events: First day of the event

  • Ecommerce: Day of purchase

Enable Service Dates in QuickBooks Online

In order to see information on service dates your QuickBooks Online account will need to have the "Service Date" setting turned on. To do so:

  1. Log in to QuickBooks Online.

  2. Click the gear icon (top right).

  3. Then click on Account and Settings.

  4. Go to the Sales tab.

  5. Scroll to the "Sales form content" section and find the Service date setting.

  6. Turn the setting on and save your changes.

Where to View Service Date Information

Service dates can be viewed in QuickBooks Online.

  • Specific Transaction

  • Report: Sales by Product/Service Detail

Items of Note:

  • This only applies to Novi transactions created in December 2022 and after, and does not apply to historical transactions before that date.

  • You’ll need to enable service dates in your QuickBooks Online account settings first.
