Continuing education is in high demand these days, and offering educational events for your members is a great way to convey the benefit of association membership. In addition to earning credits, these types of events also provide valuable networking opportunities for members and position your organization ahead of the competition.

Whether you use Novi for all of your events or not, you can keep track of members' credits on their records, allowing admins and members to pull a continuing education report for all credits earned.

If you offer multiple categories of credits, keep reading to learn how you can add custom Credit Types to your site.

How To Set Up Credit Types

To add a new custom Credit Type to your site, follow these steps:

  • On the backend, go to Events > Credit Types

  • Click the Add Credit Type button (top right)

  • Enter the Name of the Credit Type

  • Toggle to Active

  • Click the Save & Close button

Renaming Credit Types:

If you need to rename your Credit for any reason, first think about how you want the historical information to be updated.

If you’d like historical Credits to maintain the old name, create a new Credit Type with the new name and then make the old Credit Type inactive.

  • This way, reporting will display the correct name based on when it was issued and you will not be able to assign the old Credit going forward.

If you’d like historical Credits to use the new name, edit the Credit Type and update the name. This will update all historical data and reports to the new name.
