If a membership type is set to auto-renew, then members within that vertical will automatically renew based on the member type settings.  This can be over-written on a case by case basis for each member. Simply check (or uncheck) the Auto-Renew Membership checkbox on the member record's Details tab.

If you use Novi to non-renew & credit a member, this checkbox will automatically be un-checked.
