Convert Guest Attendee Registration to Member Record
If an event allowed persons to register without requiring users to log in, the attendee is a guest registration and does not connect to a record in the database. Blue hyperlinked attendees are connected to a record in the database.
Admins can convert a guest attendee registration by clicking the Edit link on the registration row (far right). The registration modal opens, providing the option to "Create New Record." Converting a guest attendee registration means a record will be created in the database for this attendee.
If "Create New Record" is clicked, the Add Person/Add Company modal will open, allowing admins to convert the attendee's information into a record. Conversion does not require admins to grant membership to the newly created record, but admins have the choice if applicable.
Record Matching
When guest attendees are registered for an event, Novi will attempt to identify potential existing records that may match the guest attendee.
The matching is first based on the member field Professional Contact Email and if multiple people are using the same email address in the field, the matching will look to the attendee name and their company name for distinction.
When Novi identifies a potential match, a label called Review will be listed on the attendee's registration for admins to review.
Clicking Review will open attendee registration and admins can mark the suggested match option as Not a Match or Match.
If Not a Match is selected:
The registration will not be connected to the suggested record and admins will have the option to convert the attendee into a record.
If Not a Match was selected in error and there is already a match in the database, admins can edit the attendee by backspacing out the attendee name and start typing the name on the record - Novi will display the options for admins to choose from.

If Match is selected:
Novi will connect the attendee to the existing record.
If Match was selected but the matched record was not a match, admins can edit the attendee by backspacing out the attendee name and start typing the name on the record - Novi will display the options for admins to choose from.

This feature is specific to attendees, not purchasers. Admins can update the Purchaser's name on an existing registration, but this will not update any existing transactions where the original Purchaser's name was listed.
Benefit of Converting Guest Attendees to Member Records
Utilizing Novi Groups and Novi's custom event reports looks to member records to populate data into those areas. Without records, admins can sync the event attendee list directly to Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
