Novi Pay: Overview

Last updated: October 13, 2026

Learn what Novi Pay® is, why most Novi customers use it, and how to get started.

What is Novi Pay?

Novi Pay is a credit card and ACH processing option for Novi AMS customers: supported by Novi, powered by Fiserv.

Fiserv, one of the largest payment processors in the world, runs the processing behind the scenes. Novi builds everything on top of it: deep integration with Novi and QuickBooks Online, more automation, and support from the Novi team you already know.

Why Customers Choose Novi Pay Over Stripe Standard or QuickBooks Payments

No matter which processor you use (Novi Pay, QuickBooks Payments, or Stripe Standard), Novi automatically links each charge to the correct member purchase and accounting transaction, down to the line-item level. Novi Pay goes much further, adding deeper accounting automation, richer processing insights, and direct support from the Novi team.

Processing fees are similar across most processors, so the real question isn't just about price. It's about what's built on top, and that's where Novi Pay stands apart.

Built Into Your Novi Workflow

Novi Pay brings more of your day-to-day payment work directly into Novi, so there's no separate portal to check or processor report to match against your AMS data.

  • Processing details at your fingertips: Payment details and card decline reasons are visible right inside Novi. When a member asks why their card didn't go through, your team can answer without leaving Novi.

  • Accounting entries created while charging the card: Admins with the Association Admin with Special Accounting Privileges role can create a sales receipt and charge the payment method in a single step. Traditionally, this was only possible with QuickBooks Payments, since Intuit controls that entire ecosystem.

  • Seamless exception handling: Admins with Special Accounting Privileges can issue exception refunds, create custom invoices or sales receipts, and submit dispute evidence, all from within Novi.

Integrated with QuickBooks Online

One of Novi Pay's most powerful automations: when a batch settles, Novi automatically creates the corresponding deposit in QuickBooks Online each night. Your bookkeeper sees every component of that batch (sales receipts, payments, and processing fees) itemized and properly accounted for.

That makes for a faster, cleaner month-end. Reconciliations often stall over errors of just a few pennies, which can take hours to track down. Novi Pay's automations drastically reduce the risk of transposed entries and missed connections, so you can close your books faster and with less frustration.

As one Novi customer put it: "It would take at least 50 basis points in processing savings for me to walk away from this automation." Another said simply: "I would quit."

Competitive Processing Rates

There is no additional cost to your Novi subscription for using Novi Pay, and transaction fees are designed to be highly competitive with other payment processors:

  • Credit card transactions: 2.95% + $0.25 per transaction

  • ACH bank payments: 0.75% per transaction

All fees are clearly outlined in the application. Incidental fees, not listed here, may apply.

Flexible Options for Convenience Fees

You decide how credit card processing fees fit your financial strategy and member experience. You can absorb them, ask members to cover them as an optional choice, or require a convenience fee.

Convenience fees are set by module (dues, e-commerce, and events), each with its own threshold. That way, a small donation or a low-cost webinar can stay fee-free while a large sponsorship covers its own credit card processing cost.

Enhanced Security, Powered by Fiserv

Fiserv is a Fortune 500 global leader trusted by millions of businesses and thousands of financial institutions. Novi Pay inherits that enterprise-grade security infrastructure.

Card Account Updater (CAU) is an optional add-on to your Fiserv account. When you opt in, CAU automatically updates expired or replaced card details through Fiserv's partnerships with Visa, Mastercard, and Amex. That helps reduce failed recurring payments, with no extra work for your staff or members.

PCI Compliance Assistance, Included at No Additional Charge

As a Novi Pay customer, you'll complete annual PCI Compliance documentation. If it isn't completed, a monthly PCI non-compliance fee applies. To make that easier, Fiserv includes free access to an optional service that helps walk you through completing the paperwork.

Dedicated Support from Novi

Perhaps most importantly, Novi Pay is supported directly by the same Novi customer experience team you already know and trust. Instead of calling a third-party processor's helpline, your staff can bring most payment questions straight to Novi. You'll also get regular updates and feature enhancements, just like you're used to with Novi AMS.

If a question needs to bubble up to Fiserv, we'll help coordinate to point you in the right direction.

A Separate Portal Only When You Need It

Routine payment work stays inside Novi. For situations that call for a deeper look, such as detailed statements, historical reports, or dispute management, Novi Pay customers also have access to Fiserv's CardPointe portal.

No Downtime When You Switch

Novi Pay runs alongside your current processor, so switching means no downtime and no disruption for your members. Previously stored payment methods keep working until members naturally update them or you decide to disable them.
