You may notice in your member type settings that calendar renewal expiration dates are locked down. This is automatically done by the Novi software after you set up your member type settings if you select calendar renewals.
We locked this down since changing renewal expiration dates manually may cause the system to be impacted in a negative way and we want to make sure your database maintains the best setup possible.
Updating the calendar renewal date on a member type only affects new members going forward. It does not retroactively update the expiration date on current member records within that member type.
If you have current members in the member type and want them moved onto the new calendar date, their expiration dates need to be updated separately. This can be done in bulk. However, we strongly recommend reaching out to Novi Support first, so we can review the setup since this can have a big impact if not handled correctly.
There is also a financial consideration if you're thinking of making this change. If those members were already billed for a full year, moving their expiration date forward will extend their paid membership period without an additional charge.
Due dates on invoices that have already been created won't change either, since those are locked in based on the expiration date at the time the invoice was generated.
If you're thinking of making this change, please reach out to us via chat or email at help@noviams.com, so we can review the setup and help determine the best strategy.
